Overview

For a streamlined and optimized experience, our cloud panel limits certain actions. Some functionalities available in other environments are not supported within our platform. This article outlines what is not supported and provides guidance on the approved alternatives.

Unsupported Actions

1. Reinstall for Cloud Servers

  • Status: Not supported by BFV.
  • Explanation:
Our platform does not support a “reinstall” operation for cloud servers. This decision helps ensure consistency and stability across deployments.
  • Alternative Approach:
If you need to refresh or update your instance, consider:
    • Creating a new instance with the latest image.
    • Booting from a newly created volume that contains your updated OS or configuration.
    • Migrating your applications and data to the new instance.

2. Instance Snapshots

  • Status: Instance snapshots are not supported.
  • Explanation:
Instead of capturing an image of the entire instance, we recommend using volume snapshots or backups. This approach provides a more robust and flexible method to safeguard your data.
  • Alternative Approach:
    • Volume Snapshots:
Capture point-in-time copies of your block storage volumes to quickly recover data or create clones.
    • Volume Backups:
Use backups for long-term retention and disaster recovery, ensuring that your system’s data is securely stored offsite.

Best Practices

  • Plan for Updates:
Instead of relying on a reinstall function, design your workflows to include instance redeployments with boot-from-volume configurations.
  • Regular Backups:
Automate volume snapshots and backups to ensure your data is protected.
  • Documentation:
Keep clear records of instance configurations and volume mappings so that migrations or redeployments can be executed smoothly.
